Teotihuacan is the name the Aztecs gave to this place in Mexico but it was not the Azetcs who built it, they re-discovered it, same applies to the names given to the various pyramids, the were given when it was rediscovered not by the builders, no one new who they were.
I find a weird place, the buildings or pyramids flanking the avenue don't seem to be buildings at all, they look more to me like viewing platforms. The stairways invite people to climb them the stepped shapes make ideal platforms to stand on.
